Searching For Great Soup Maker Recipes? Look No Further!

November 7, 2018 by SMR

It’s all very well buying a soup maker for your kitchen, but in many ways it’s like an oven or microwave – it doesn’t make you a great cook in isolation. As with cooking in general, experience is going to go a long way in knowing what to make, so given everyone starts somewhere, what makes a good place to start?

Fortunately for you, we’ve given it a bit of thought, and done some research on the web. There are plenty of ways to learn about soup, and the great news is that once you get the feel for how to make something you like, it’s easy to adjust and experiment with different ingredients to fine tune your results.

Soup Maker Recipe Books

First and foremost, you can start with recipe books, widely available for next day delivery at Amazon. A quick and helpful tip is to buy a soup maker recipe book as opposed to one that’s just a general soup recipe book. This will mean you’re getting recipes that are designed with electronic soup maker programmes in mind, rather than ones that assume you’ll be preparing them on the hob. It’s not a big difference, but one that might make things that little bit easier for you to learn. For example, hob based recipes might involve larger quantities of soup than fit in your machine, so you’ve got to think ahead and reduce the volume of ingredient proportionally, or cook the whole lot bit by bit which will take quite some time!

Soup Making On YouTube

An often overlooked option to find good soup maker recipes is video sharing website YouTube. There are a massive array of soups created on video there, so if you’re a visual person with an iPad or similar to watch on in the kitchen then this might be for you.

Here’s an example – a two minute example of someone making tomato and chilli soup in a Morphy Richards soup maker…

As you can see, it’s helpful to see someone making it in front of your eyes, but the downside is you might have questions that go unanswered in such a quick summary of a recipe. In general, it’s best to use these as an aid to inspiration and watch them before you begin – hopefully you’ll know whether you’re understanding what you need to do before you start!

Soup Recipe Websites

Finally, use and abuse the internet! There are huge websites out there jam packed full of recipes, and soups are covered extensively. Here are some of our favourites:

  • BBC Good Food Soup Recipes
The world famous BBC website has very high quality recipes, often used by or written by famous and well respected chefs. You’ll find a mix of traditional recipes alongside some more exotic and exciting choices to try, which makes it a great place to go exploring. At the time of writing, there are seventy recipes available, which will presumably grow further over time.
  • Jamie Oliver Soup Recipes
Everyone knows the cheeky chappy of the TV chef world Jamie Oliver. If he’s not crusading on his latest good cause, he’s in the kitchen creating his latest recipes. You can find twenty of his top soups on his website.
  • Tesco Healthy Soup Recipes
The nation’s biggest supermarket have got in on the act with their top ten soups on their site. The beauty of these is that if you’ve got a Tesco nearby, the chances are they’ll have everything you need in stock, under the brand and name in the recipe.

The Souped Up Summary

As you’ll know, we highly recommend the Morphy Richards 48822 as an affordable choice for your kitchen, but you probably also want to know what to put in it too if you’re still reading here! We think that you could do a lot worse than buying yourself a copy of a soup maker recipe book – one of our favourites, and one that sells very well is Liana Green’s book:

If print books aren’t for you, then Youtube and the wider web have you covered!
